Contrary to the popular belief, a person is not entitled to an annulment because of the short duration of a marriage, nor is it available because the marriage has yet to be consummated.
Annulment is the legal system's acknowledgment that for some reason the marriage should be treated as if it never existed. There are two (2) reasons for an annulment: (1) one or both of the parties are legally incapable of marriage; (2) marriage was induced by fraud.
